Ready-Made Range
Most polo shirt supplier quotes in the UAE begin with a four to six week lead time. That is the correct answer for a manufactured programme where the cloth is woven for your order. It is the wrong answer when the exhibition is on the 14th.
Ready-made is the other route. Stock garment off our Ajman shelf, your logo applied in house, ten pieces minimum, delivered anywhere from Dubai to Fujairah in three to five working days.
The offer, in numbers
Three to five days counts from artwork approval, not from the first enquiry. Send vector artwork in AI, EPS or PDF and that step closes the same day. A JPG has to be redrawn first, which adds one working day.
Choosing the knit
Piqué is a textured knit with a waffle face, and it is what makes a polo a polo rather than a collared t-shirt. The fibre behind that knit is where the decision sits.
This is printed on the spec sheet and almost never on a website. Combing removes the short fibres before spinning, so the yarn is smoother, stronger and pills far less. Ring spinning twists it tighter than open-end spinning does.
Two cotton polos at the same 200 gsm can be completely different garments depending on which pair they were made with. If a quote does not say combed ring-spun, assume it is not.
A 150 gsm polo is cooler and cheaper and goes thin at the elbow and shoulder sooner. A 210 gsm polo holds its shape through more wash cycles and costs more.
For staff wearing it daily, anything under 180 gsm in cotton is false economy. For an exhibition where the shirt is worn twice, it is exactly the right call and nobody should talk you out of it.
The part nobody publishes
Every polo looks good in week one. These four numbers decide what it looks like in month six, and they are the reason two shirts at the same gsm and the same price age completely differently. Ask for them before you order bulk polo shirts. A polo shirt supplier running their own floor will have all four on file and can send them over the same day.
| Test | Standard | Scale | What to insist on |
|---|---|---|---|
| Colour fastness to light | ISO 105-B02 | 1 to 8 | 5 or better for indoor, 6 or better for anyone working outdoors |
| Colour fastness to perspiration | ISO 105-E04 | 1 to 5 | 4 or better, tested acid and alkaline |
| Pilling resistance | ICI pilling box or Martindale | 1 to 5 | 4 or better. A 3 looks fuzzy at the underarm by month three |
| Dimensional change on washing | ISO 6330 | ±5% | 3% or tighter if you can get it, and see the arithmetic below |
Scroll the table sideways on a phone.
This one gets ignored everywhere else in the world and it should not be ignored here. ISO 105-B02 rates fading under light from 1 to 8, where 8 holds longest.
Disperse dyes on polyester usually test a grade or two higher than reactive dyes on cotton. That is a second, separate reason performance polyester wins for outdoor staff, on top of the sweat argument, and it is why a red cotton polo on a site team can read pink by the end of a UAE summer while the navy ones look untouched.
Reds and oranges go first. Navy and black hold longest. If your brand colour sits at the red end and the team works outside, raise this before you approve the sample, not after.
Plus or minus 5% is the usual commercial tolerance under ISO 6330, and it sounds harmless written down.
Run the arithmetic. A men's large polo is roughly 56cm across the half chest. Five percent of that is 2.8cm. One size step is normally about 2.5cm. So a shirt that passes inside tolerance can still come back effectively one size smaller.
Two defences. Ask for 3% rather than 5% in the spec, and wash the sample once before you sign off the size set. A supplier confident in the cloth will not object to either.
Make and finish
All of the above is visible on a physical sample in under a minute. None of it is visible in a product photo, which is why any polo shirt supplier worth dealing with puts a physical sample in your hands before a first order rather than after it.
Stock position
Anything on this row ships inside the three to five day window. Colours outside it move to a custom run with a longer lead time.
Placeholder. These eight are examples. Replace with the real stock colours and add the men's and women's size ranges before publishing, or delete this section.
Getting the fit right
Ten pieces is not ten mediums. Walk the team, write the split down, send that. Reordering four shirts in a missing size costs more per piece than ordering them in the first batch, and it puts those four outside the original dye lot.
Dye lot matters more than people expect. Two batches of the same navy, dyed months apart, will not always match under showroom lighting, and on bulk polo shirts that is what quietly turns one uniformed team into two.
A women's polo is not a small men's polo. The shoulder slope, armhole depth, side shaping and body length all differ. A woman in a men's small usually looks like she is wearing somebody else's shirt, and that reads on the shop floor.
Polos also run smaller than the equivalent t-shirt, because piqué has less stretch than single jersey. Between sizes, go up.
Putting your logo on
On a polo, thread usually wins. Piqué has a raised waffle texture, and texture is exactly where surface prints struggle, because the ink film bridges the high points and cracks along them. Embroidered polo shirts sidestep that completely, since the mark is stitched through the knit rather than laid on top of it.
Printing is the better call in three specific cases. Text below roughly 4mm cap height, which thread cannot hold. Full colour or gradient artwork, which thread can only approximate in layers. And a large back mark, where twenty thousand stitches would be heavy, hot and expensive.
The full comparison, with wash life by method, is here: embroidery vs printing on uniforms.
Branding runs on our own machines in Ajman, so uniform embroidery services sit inside the same three to five days instead of being sent out and waited on. That is most of the reason the window is three to five days and not two weeks.
Before you order
Worth saying plainly, because ordering the wrong thing quickly is still ordering the wrong thing. Go to a manufactured run instead if any of these apply:
In those cases the conversation starts at corporate uniform supplier rather than here. Ready-made is a speed product. It is not a cheaper version of custom and it was never built to be.
Ordering
AI, EPS or PDF. A JPG has to be redrawn, which adds a working day.
The real split, men's and women's separately. Not the headcount.
Or just tell us where the team works and we will choose.
Say it in the first message. It changes the whole answer.
Questions
Ready-made stock polos start at 10 pieces with branding included, and sizes can be mixed within one order. A manufactured run, where the cloth and colour are produced for your order rather than taken from stock, carries a higher minimum because the fabric is made for the job.
Three to five working days from artwork approval, delivered to Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Al Ain, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and Umm Al Quwain. The clock starts at approval rather than first enquiry, so sending vector artwork in the first message keeps the timeline at the shorter end.
Performance polyester piqué at 150 to 180 gsm for anyone outdoors between May and September. It moves sweat to the surface where it can evaporate, and disperse dyes on polyester typically test higher for light fastness under ISO 105-B02 than reactive dyes on cotton, so the colour survives the sun better too. Combed cotton piqué at 180 to 220 gsm for indoor and front of house roles, where it presses better and the colour reads richer.
Usually the yarn and the test ratings behind it. Combed ring-spun cotton pills far less than carded open-end cotton at an identical weight, because combing removes the short fibres before spinning. Beyond that, ask for the pilling grade on the ICI or Martindale scale, where 4 or better holds up, and the ISO 105-B02 light fastness grade, where 6 or better suits outdoor work.
Commercial tolerance under ISO 6330 is usually plus or minus 5 percent. On a men's large at roughly 56cm across the half chest that is 2.8cm, and one size step is around 2.5cm, so a shirt can pass inside tolerance and still feel a size smaller. Specify 3 percent instead where you can, and wash one sample before signing off the size set.
Custom polo shirts quoted back the same working day. If the date is tight, say so in the first message and we will tell you straight away whether three to five days is enough or whether we should be talking about something else.
